Meet our new Guest Design Team member, Jana Fail!

With the holidays upon us and everyone taking a break from their scrapping, we decided to extend our guest design team position for two months, December and January. Again we received wonderful submissions and it always makes the choice a difficult one.

We are happy to announce that our new Guest Design Team member is Jana Fail.
Here is Jana's submission entry!

I would like to be the guest DT member because I love feeling creative. I enjoy taking the time to share my talent and style with others. I think the experience would enable me to create things in a more timely manner and I hope it would give me the opportunity to challenge myself creatively. I enjoy the time I spend with other forum members and love getting to know them. I would love to issue challenges to them and also create some fun games and other forum activities for RAK's, including some non-scrapbook related ones. I love getting to know other people and have found such a 'home" at KT Crafts and would love for everyone to feel the same way. I would love to see more people join us at KT but I do love the comfortable feel that I have experienced here as well as it's smaller size (some sites are just too huge.) I love the support everyone gives each other at KT and feel I could continue to give that support and help others reach their creative potential. I love all the DT members and would love to work with you all more closely. Thanks for this opportunity.

Jana has jumped right in and shown great initiative and inspired so many of us already!
Welcome, Jana! We are happy to have you as our December/January Guest Design Team Member.

December's Member Highlight!

This month our member highlight takes us north into Canada. Our Crafty Girl of the month is Candy, better known to us as Canzlynn98!

Candy shares a recent photo of herself and her scrapping inspiration, her son Austin, along with one of her favorite LOs.

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am 35 years old, I live in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. I grew up in a small town in Alberta called Taber. It's known as the Corn Capital of Canada. I then moved to Calgary, Alberta when I was 22. I lived there for 7 years and decided that big city living wasn't what I wanted for my son. So we moved back to Taber. Now we are here in Lethbridge. I am a mom. I have the most wonderful 10 year old son. Everything I do is for him. I don't know where I would be today If I didn't have him. I love photography and especially love that I can take my photos and turn them into something wonderful. I love to scrapbook and make cards.

2. What makes you tick? (do you have favorite snacks, tv shows, quirks, what excites you, etc.)
Here are a few of my favorites: I love Pepsi, Chocolate, Pizza, my favorite tv shows are: Dog the Bounty Hunter, Friends, CSI Miami. I also can't get enough scrapbooking paper. LOL!!!

3. How and when did you start scrapping?
I started scrapbooking 3 years ago. I only planned on doing one book. Well I can say that I have done about 10 now. My friend got me started and then I in turn got another friend "HOOKED" and it just kind of snowballed from there.

4. What is most inspiring to you where scrapbooking is concerned?
My photos. I find it really hard to scrapbook unless I have really good photos.

5. Do you sketch your ideas before you create them?
Not usually. I just kind of plan as I go.

6. What technique do you love, but have not tried yet?
I really haven't tried any techniques. I just like to do my own thing. Really I haven't figured out what that is yet.

7. What else has scrapbooking brought into your life other than capturing memories on paper?
I have met some of the most wonderful people by scrapbooking. It's so awesome when you can meet in a message board and make such good friends. I love how friends who also scrapbook are so supportive of your accomplishments and praise you for your hard work.

Thanks for sharing with us, Candy!

Holiday Memories

The countdown is on! There are only 19 days til Christmas! The holiday season is a special time of year for our family. It brings back so many wonderful memories of our own childhoods and of our children growing up. Now, they have families of their own and they are making their own holiday traditions.

Its a time of year for recording those memories to look back on in years to come. Don't forget to take that camera and have it ready wherever you are! Keep extra batteries nearby, because its inevitable that you will need them when you are least prepared! Make sure you get photos of special moments, but also important items that will be "special" in years to come.

Here are a few suggestions for photos....

That letter to Santa! How priceless will that be in years to come in that handwriting that only Santa can read? Or a picture of that plate of cookies for Santa and his elves?

Cutting down or buying that perfect tree. This is a huge tradition for us. First breakfast together at a local diner, and then off to fell the "tree of the year"! Ours is usually about 12 feet tall and requires a lot of ornaments to say the least. It is a day long affair. Topping it off with the "star" is another tradition. Our 2 daughters took turns every other year. And, we never had to worry about remembering who's turn it was. They NEVER FORGOT! Now that they are off on their own, we always reminisce about those moments when I place the star on top of our tree!

Hanging the stockings, your Christmas outfit for church, watching for Santa! There are too many to list!

Family and friends are a very importantl part of the holidays too. Make sure you take pictures of visitors and those you are visiting with.

There are lots of special moments that we will want to remember down the road....so make sure that you record yours with pictures. And, it will allow for many joyous scrapping moments too!

Our message board has been experiencing technical difficulties, but it looks like it has been fixed now. Thank you for your patience!
